Retainers, Braces, and Root Canals
May 18th, 2007 by General Henz
The movement’s afoot. More than a single product is necessary to defeat Wobbly. In fact, an entire arsenal of products, in a carefully coordinated assault, is what’s needed to stop our foe. And who’s better to help plan out the strategy for our fancy-foot flight, for our twinkle-toed transition, for our … really bad alliterations … than our reallysmartconsulatants.
Realizing that these guys are hot commodities following their previous breakthroughs for the War on Wobblies I looked for ways to secure their services for years to come. My lawyer insisted that I offer them a fat retainer. I asked him how a dental correctional aide would help us in this situation and he looked at me blankly. I guess consultants, even if they are reallysmart, can always enjoy additional health benefits. Anyway, I dug out my old retainer, offered it to the reallysmartconsultants, and the deal was finalized.
I met with the team of reallysmartconsultants and posed a question that needs cousteau-like exploration:
The war requires an entire arsenal of products, but in order to defeat the Evil Axis of Wobbly the Knights of the Wobbly Table require a new advanced weapon to lead the war effort. We’ve identified that there is a Cloud of Market Opportunity™. But how do we identify what’s in the Cloud of Market Opportunity™ and feed the knowledge to our reallysmartengineers so that we can produce the necessary weapon to win the war?
The reallysmartconsultants took a moment to think, ate a piece of trendy MBA-consultant-type sushi, delicately moved to the white board and proceeded to sketch out the following:

Well some help that was. I guess we’ve narrowed down what’s needed in order to capitalize on the Cloud of Market Opportunity ™ a little bit. But I’m thinking that for my retainer I should have gotten a little more. I’ll continue to push the reallysmartconsultants. I’m convinced that they’ll eventually figure it out. I mean they have to, don’t they? They use MBA words like “synergy” and “lean manufacturing” and stuff.
